Would that I had the answer or the magic potion. I wish I understood the need to hurt, the need to hate. I try always to give love without conditions, but so often I feel I am stabbed back and even looked down on for doing so. Apparently, loving, forgiving, trusting, believing in others is the narrow path and the rose with thorns. But...its not going to stop me.

Honestly I have been wandering the same question for years now, ever since I noticed that I was different then others, I could feel their pain, and I felt sad because there are so few of us who feel compassion and love even towards our abusers. I reached the conclusion that we were all meant to live like this, that our soul and our minds are pure with compassion. The people we have spent our lives with are partially responsible for our compassion but it is us who made that choice.
I have learned that in life there is a certain balance, when a tormentor is born a savior is born, where there is darkness there is a equal quantity of light. I don't know if somewhere in the world there is my opposite, but if there is I grief for his/her pain and wish to help him.
What makes us different is that we see the beauty of live and the miracles that come with it. It is our sworn duty to help our fellow souls find peace and compassion and that is a duty that surpasses any other.

I believe it has to do with the upbringing, the environment, attitudes of the parents, and a host of a lot of other things.
actually you can find families in which you have a couple of brothers, and one can be loving and compassionate while the other one is completely opposite.
It is just the way that our world is made up and there are as many explanations why as there are people.
I don't know if you can enter God into the mix, or not, if that is your belief, then I suppose maybe it is the challenge.
Given the complexity of our society today though , there are so many other factors to consider, and religion has nothing to do with it. That is a reality.

I agree that personally the harder the times the more compassion I actually feel for others.. I think that it's life's way of testing us and our own journey of whether we learn from hurt and pain or we just absorb it and then mimic the awful things that hurt us.. But the ones that don't have love or compassion are the ones that I feel the most for because eventually that hate is going to eat away at them until the soul that was once there is no more...

In my opinion/experience peopel that have lived sheltered lives simply don't have an awful lot compassion since they didn't have to deal with much & they jsut don't understand what it feels like to hurt, or be hungry, or say no to , or live without!
I have dealt with many different peopel from many different ways of life in my life and some simply don't know any better & wuold be upsat if you would call them out on their compassion or love....it's not the same to everyone!

exhibiting behavior that is filled with love and compassion is a flawless sign of a "high" consciousness level in the actor. one view of our shared situation as humans is that while we are all "in" more or less "similar type" bodies, we are all at different levels in terms of "soul growth"/consciousness. those driven by ignorance, fear and negative ego, will, hopefully, in due time, outgrow these "shortcomings". until then they need to be treated with love and compassion.

It is due to one's knowledge, or lack thereof, of the unity of principles, life, etc.; the appreciation of differences and the advantages they give the whole, or lack of the same.
In truth it is due to a lack of Honesty, or the discovery of Universal Turth by Its, and Love's aid, as the most fundamental of First Principles.

It is true, only because others use hard times as an excuse for their actions.
Those who are more compassionate look beyond the hard times and beyond how other people act.

i think it is down to a number of factors such as a person's upbringing, the types of people he/she is friends with, the type of person he/she is and the kinds of life experiences they go through as human beings during their lives. as for what makes a person love and respect others and a person who hates, well, that could be down to selfishness, ignorance, arrogance, being spiteful etc. i think they hate because they feel dissatisfied either with life or with certain people and of whom wish to vent their anger and frustration at others. whatever their reasons for doing so, i don't believe that they don't seem to love themselves enough to fully appreciate the good other people do for them and to realise that with love and compassion, comes respect and tolerance for others

"God dwells within you as you" we have unity with God in unconditional love within the heart. Some have awaken to this and others have not. Some have not learned to control their actions in thought, word and deed. letting Fear, anger & hate lead them into insanity.
