Making mistakes and regretting those mistakes are two different things. You cannot regret any rational decision you make after you make it, even if it turns out to be a mistake. If it seemed like a good idea at the time there is no use beating yourself over the head with it. You see what went wrong with the choice, examine ways you could have prevented or altered it, and move on with your life. Living your life in the past is living a life of death.

Maybe this explanation will help you understand. I have made many mistakes and hurt many people in my life but all of those mistakes have made me the person I am today. People learn from their mistakes and learn from the past so to say that you no regrets means that you are happy with the person you are and ways you have changed your behavior so that you don't make the same mistakes and you don't continue to hurt people. I have lived my life and all of the things I have done and the mistakes that I have made have gotten me to this place where I am happily married and have 2 wonderful kids so I don't regret a thing even though there are things I am sorry for.

I agree with you 100% and I believe that everybody has regrets only to learn from them. I believe everyone has lived a life that their not proud of and it's up to each individual to learn from their mistakes. Many people aren't willing to open up about their lives and what they went through to become a success or to make a better life for themselves. Everyone learns from making bad choices but at the same time, some people mean no regrets when their happy with what they learned from life.

Well - I have some regrets. They are also called life experiences. What matters most to me is taking a regretful experience and learning from it, so I don't make that same choice again. It's all about learning from your mistakes and making positive change in your life.
What's really sad is when people keep making the same mistakes over and over again, never learning anything from them. Then their life is one big regret that never changes.

There is a song the late Edith Piaf recorded called no regrets, but what she was saying was that she did not regret having loved
even if she lost in love. One can not dwell on regrets and live in the past, to have a happy future one must say"No Regrets" and move on.

Having no regrets....Not feeling bad about something I have caused...that just doesn't seem moral almost suggesting not to have a conscience. Perhaps the saying could be modified to say have no long term regrets. that could lead to depression, extreme guilt, low self esteem. The best thing i think you can do with a regret is confront it ,own up to, correct it before it could become a regret.

It's nice to have regrets, shows your own weaknesses. The best thing you can do from regrets is learn something from them instead of dwelling in the past and hoping to change your stupid decisions.

The idea is to have the constitution not to make a decision you will regret, to think out all of the options and consequences of an action before you make it. That is what it means to have no regrets. I try to live my life without them, to live with each decision I make knowing it was the best one to make at the time. I couldnt stand to try to live without regard to this creed. It is about respect and living by conviction.

Have no regrets almost seems like the person has no conscience or judgment.
But on the other hand, living with regret is pointless: learn, move on and let it go.

you don't have to regret a mistake in order to learn from it. they're 2 different things. learning is a part of growing but regretting .... .. pulls you down to earth [i think].
