Ive always wondered about this. If you were born on an island and never learn to speak or write and had never been exposed to this idea...How would you think? When I think to myself it is almost always as if Im talking to myself in my head. However, if I didnt know language I couldnt do that. Would someone like this think purely in pictures? If they wanted to think "I like oranges" would they just picture an orange in their head and then have a feeling of happiness? Or maybe they would visualize themselves eating one and visualize themselves being happy that they are eating one?

If this is true, isnt this a more "natural" way to think? Surely we were not born with the ability to think in words so I would assume pictures is more natural. Of course speaking is considered a benefit...But perhaps we are limiting our thoughts by trying to think in words. (We have all had emotions or feelings we say we cant explain in words.)

Can anyone explain what is meant by "positive properties"? In the article it states:

"Gödel defines a positive property rather vaguely: "Positive means positive in the moral aesthetic sense (independently of the accidental structure of the world)... It may also mean pure attribution as opposed to privation (or containing privation)." (Gödel 1995"

However this doesnt make much sense to me. A more clear, down to earth explanation would help a lot.

Also, what is Necesarry Existance as refered to in the proof? Is it something that HAS to be? Its hard for me to speculate what NE may be because it states it is positive property and I am unclear as to what that is.

Thanks for any help.

think about how hip-hop affects women, how they are always called "bitches", they have no name, just bitches

2nd question) What responsibilities does the artist (of a rap song) have toward the community? To what extent should the artist have a moral function??

it would be really helpful if u could give me some topics i can talk about to answer this question!

this question is for my philosophy class n i haven't been in that class for 2 weeks so i need major help! so we read an article about hip-hop and these are questions that we are supposed to answer from our own perspective, not the article...thank you!!!!

By this I mean: let us imagine that there is something, therefore an existing entity, but we just not have the enough ability (linguistic, psichological, pragmatical, etc...) to "say" that thing; we can't express it by words, by propositions.

Is there something that we cannot say?

Say which ones, if yes. Say why not, if no!

Tnx,

I feel guilty for not being able to forgive him but as a christian I really want to forgive him.
I wish they would just hurry up and catch him, I would feel a lot safer if they said "We got him and he is going to jail forever."

This is a question I've been strugling with. I have a BA degree and will be attending a top MBA program but I can't shake the feeling that it's all meaningless. I'll work my whole life to try and make it to the top and then when I get there I'll retire and die in a few years. What's the point?
