how the universe began has no bearing on me as an individual and therefore cannot mold me in so far as ethics is concerned (similarly to other 'myths').

sure its fun to fantasize... but what difference does it really make?

Lets get it straight. It's science vs belief.

Science always asks for empirical evidence to validate any point of view. Big Bang theory, it states that the universe was created sometime between 10 billion and 20 billion years ago from a cosmic explosion that hurled matter and in all directions. This is just a suggestion. One web page specifically states, "Although the Big Bang Theory is widely accepted, it probably will never be proved; consequentially, leaving a number of tough, unanswered questions. "

I would not say that God creating the universe is a myth. It's purely a matter of belief and faith. We, from the beginning, have the freedom to choose a particular thought. I believe that God, who is Supreme, created the universe and us human beings. Now belief can never be verified by empirical evidence. In spite of the fact that this belief can never be proven, it has provided me a greater sense of understanding towards the making of such a vast space like the universe.

Science itself could not provide empirical evidence to validate theory of evolution or the big bang theory. Concluding that a particular belief is a myth is not right. However, we are free to take up any stance we consider to be appealing to the senses.

Apparently you have been listening to some false teachings. It is not "what", but "who" created the universe. And indeed it was GOD, sovereign, Holy, Omnipotent, Omniscient, GOD. Do you in your wildest dreams even begin to imagine that all this intelligent design, form, and function came from a what?? If you are so naieve as to believe that you have more FAITH than I do, for there is far less evidence to that end than there is to the existence of an Intelligent Designer and CREATOR. Good luck with your future, you'll need it.

A myth God is not: Creator of all things God is ! Its seems that it would take more faith to believe the Big Bang theory (all came about by chance), than it would to believe or have faith Gods Word is true in the perfect order of things.

Since the Universe itself has no creative powers, I believe an original uncreated Being created it (whom I call God).

There is no scientific reason to believe the Universe has always existed. It is spinning down and spreading apart which implies a beginning (and one day...an end).

The universe created itself. Nothing could have created it, because there is nothing beyond the universe, after all. There was also nothing before the universe. Time didn't exist, so nobody could have planned the universe before it was made. It simply was undifferentiated energy that slowly divided itself up, distinguishing itself into all the myriad, different things we have around us today.

an uncased cause. We don't know what or who this cause is. If it is powerful enough to create the universe surely it is omnipotent for everything is of the uncased cause. I just believe this cause exists in its own realm of eternity, because in ours I consider it to be material, for material things come to an end. Eternal things have always been there. They may be beyond our understanding, because we may not have the mental capacity to handle it.

I think that Big Bang is our best explanation so far (i.e. the only sound scientific explanation). So your follow-on question, of course, is what created the Big Bang? I don't know and I don't think it's important for me to know. I'm comfortable with the fact that I cannot and will not know everything.
