I know I've posted this with the suggestion that is a philosphical question. I've only done that because I know the thinkers hang out here and will have their brains in gear. If you must give me an answer which will curdle my over-tired brain, then feel free to do so....

im curious to see what people think about it...
what if the Devil came to you an gave you 2 options:

A) you can save your life, your familie´s life, and your friends´ life...

B) you can save the lives of 5.500.000.000 people (chosen randomly around the globe)

what would you do?


i know im a monster for saying that... but i wouldn´t think twice, id definitely choose the first option... the way I see it, my life is very important for me...this MAY BE my only/last shot... i can fool myself into thinking that im altruist and blablabla(which I actually think I am), but the bottom line is, when faced with any life-threat situation, I´d do almost anything to save my life, maybe ANYTHING

I´ve always been careful when talking to someone about it... the few people i´ve talked about it turned out to think exactly like I do, which didn´t surprise me AT ALL

rest assure you ain´t going to jail if you choose the first option, haha

Here's a question I posted about the story of Abraham, where God asks him to kill his son as proof of his total devotion. The answers I received from Christians basically said they're ok with this test, since God did stop him and didn't really want him to kill his own son.

So, it's ok for a god to require so much trust that a believer goes against such a strong belief in his heart (i.e. not wanting to kill)? I don't understand how anyone could believe in a god that wants this type of person following their religion. What do you think?

Your opinion please. No preaching and telling me to convert. Thank you.

Why is everything about sex
When people start swearing at each others they do it in sex words
When Teens go online they search for sex related things
When People get married the 1st thing they do is having sex !!
The only thing people think about is having sex
Just because it is a great joy everybody start talking / thinking / doing everything about it !!!????

I just saw a story about polygamy in the U.S. that took the expected and perhaps appropriate moralistic tone, but it didn't (as stories of this nature rarely do) bother dealing with why polygamy isn't acceptable, other than that it's unconventional in Western culture. So this made me think about whether an argument could be made that it is necessarily, intrinsically immoral.

With the l year anniversary of Katrina, there are prades and celebration. It's wonderful to thank God for your life, but what about the people still living in FEMA trailers that have to find other living quarters, people who were financially disabled, the loss of pets and family. Are some of you upset with this happiness portrayed?
