Sometimes they know, but want reinforcement, sometimes they want to get on their soap-box, sometimes they ask honest questions and find help in honest answers, some question askers are silly and some are evil... It takes all kinds.

There aren't any answers we don't know at some level of thinking.
The theory held by some sciences is that there isn't anything that we don't already know. Intrinsic knowledge is a known property of our conscious and unconscious minds. Generally speaking, the human mind does already know all answers however, the majority of humans at the individual levels can not directly make the association with that particular knowledge area at a given point on command. To use intrinsic knowledge requires a step process involving a number of known functions of the mind in unison to enter or connect with a given intrinsic knowledge.
Intellects on the other hand can uses the normal channels of thought, reasoning, and logic to enter the intrinsic knowledge areas and systematically retrieve the answers needed to resolve the questions. We have seen many examples of this in the last two decades where long standing questions about Man have been resolved by answers that where commonplace among all of us as the appropriate solution and accepted as a relative truth.
When the layman becomes aware of these answers and data, through study, at some point realizes that they too knew the answer but don't know how they did. It happens everyday. Someone is speaking to you and you already know what the answer is. The subject of intrinsic knowledge has many questions still left unanswered. The two words Intrinsic and Inherent can mean the same in one condition and be totally separate in another condition. The most outstanding current question in science today is; from what has already become known fact, is Intrinsic Knowledge acquired after birth through accumulation or are we actually born with this knowledge?

In this section of Philosophy, Yes, I think most already have an answer, their personal answer, and they want to compare notes.
I think the idea of any philosophical question is to provoke thinking, and learn from other points of view, there is not just one good answer.
I should also say that Ignorants do not ask questions.

Depends on the question, I think some people trully come to ask a real question, or maybe advise. Then again there are some idiots that have nothing better to do than ask dumb questions just to see what people will answer.

They may know an answer but are curious if others agree. Also confession of ignorance is the first step toward wisdom.

Kinda depends on the question. Some people have legitimate questions. Others, well, yeah, they might just be asking to get funny answers! you know, for fun!

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no.
Some ask questions in dire need, or to simple
acquire the information.
They either ask to test our knowledge
or to test our knowledge out of curiosity.

I think some questions are to see what other people think about a certain topic, and some questions are simply cuz they cant figure it out themselves....either way, its to gain knowledge. Dont you agree?
