Feminists boast that they cannot compete with men because of their physical limitations. Then why is it that they cannot compete with men in games like chess where muscle power is not required? It is because chess is a game invented by man and for men in accordance with his mental specialties. Computers are another field where women can't really compete because computers are designed by men in accordance with their cerebral specialties. The present world is a world developed by man and for men in accordance with their cerebral qualities which are different from women's. Women trying to compete with men in a man's world is like our trying to compete with ducks or fish in swimming. I have no sexual prejudices, But I think women should develop a world of their won in accordance with their specialties instead of trying to compete with man in his world and playing spoilsport.

If you could give a person a choice between life and death (a loaded gun) most people would not pull the trigger? Why not? It's painless and if you do not believe in the afterlife then it's a means to an end, it solves your problems. It is inevitable anyway why not speed up the process? Only those blessed with a 'bigger heart than their ego' may answer, but of course this is open to the floor, so if one is to pick up scraps off the floor then one will. Lost you at 'if you could' therefore could never have you at 'hello'. Sorry, going to bed now.

We often hear people boasting about the faith of our fathers. Change of religion is also often considered betrayal of our ancestors. But don't you think it is contradictory? All of today's religions are hardly 2000-5000 year old whereas religion is at lest 100000 years old though it involved human sacrifice and cannibalism. If all our ancestors had stayed loyal to the faith of their fathers, we too should be practicing cannibalism and worshipping primordial gods and goddesses. The first Christians were the Apostles who turned against the Judaism, the faith of their fathers. Mohammad rebelled against the faith of his ancestors and even desecrated the idols his ancestors worshipped. If it was right for them, why is it wrong for us to choose our own path irrespective of what our parents believed in?

I'm not a die hard fan of rap, but I have a few albums mainly 2pac and DMX, does this talk of 'smoking out our enemies' etc make me less inclined to understand philosophy from it's very roots, Aristotle, Socrates-prostitutes (ok I have to explain this one, Socrates sent some of his students for an audience with a prostitute, for the purposes of intellectual education) etc to its modern adversaries (sp?). Am I stunted in my growth of intellectual pursuits with listening to this ****? Or does it serve as a stepping stone rather than a vice?

At the center of my question is the notion of duality. As humans we have the capacity for love and understanding in our relationships to one and other or for hatred, judgement and fear. We are imperfect beings. From within that imperfection how can we be our best?

Tortoise
Perhaps Zen is instructive because it is humorous. I would guess that if you took all such stories entirely seriously, you would miss the point as often as you would get it.
Achilles
Maybe there's something in your Tortoise-Zen.
Tortoise
Can you answer just one question for me? I would like to know this: Why did Bodhidharma come from India into China?
Achilles
Oho! Shall I tell you what Jōshū said when he was asked that very question?
Tortoise
Please do.
Achilles
He replied, “That oak tree in the garden.”
Tortoise
Of course; that's just what I would have said. Except that I would have said it in answer to a different question—namely, “Where can I find some shade from the midday sun?”
Achilles
Without knowing it, you have inadvertently hit upon one of the basic questions of Zen. That question, innocent as it sounds, actually means, “What is the basic principle of Zen?”
Tortoise
How extraordinary. I hadn't the slightest idea that the central aim of Zen was to find some shade.
Achilles
Oh, no—you've misunderstood me entirely. I wasn't referring to that question. I meant your question about why Bodhidharma came from India into China.
