The American Dream in 2006 is the same since the birth of the nation, pursuing and achieving your potential and being rewarded for it.

I think it is a little different for everyone.
My american dream is to simply exist peacefully, not loose any ground financially, to stop the erosion of the constitution, see that the government takes accountability for it's actions (amoral wars, the Katrina fiasco, the widening gap between the financial classes that has been helped along by the wrist -slapping of corporate raiders, health care for all citizens, the EPA empowered instead of diluted, that christianity does not become the mandatory religion of the country, the vets that contracted "mysterious diseases" (in all likelihood - nuclear poisoning from weapons coating) are taken care of by the VA and not turned away.........I could go on.

The so-called American Dream is currently placed on hold until further notice. Mostly likely after the current administration departs from office.

The American Dream has never changed. It is to own your own piece of land with nice little house on it. That's what everyone works for and why people come here. People work to pay their mortgages.
