Philosophy and religion are intertwined because they both seek to answer the deepest questions of our existence.

But after growing up in a religious family and taking some philosophy in college, I think the difference is pretty simple.

In philosophy, the answers are determined mostly by evidence.
In religion, the answers are determined mostly by faith.

Personally, I prefer to rely on evidence.

A philosophy is an outlook on life and how to live it. A religion is a set of beliefs regarding one or more deities. Most religions come with a philosophy (a view on how you should live) but philosophies dont come with a religion.

Religion is an organizations answers to philisophical questions in the context of their beleifs and the deity they follow. Philosophy asks questions the answers to which can range from beyond religion but nonetheless are usually abstract enough not to fall into science and not religious enough to fall into theocracy, though many questions can broach the idea of religion. It is when matters of religion are put towards each other where only a religious answer can be accepted is where it turns to theology.

There really is no difference. In fact there is a heavy amount of mixing between them. Judeo-Christianity and philosophy have been influencing each other for hundreds of years.

Some philosophers become so addicted to a certain philosophy that you might as well call them religious. Ahem. positivism.

Philosophy is the dynamic process of using reason to pursue the ideal of perfection in knowing, doing, and ultimately being. It maintains a skeptical attitude to belief. It is the triumph of reason over will and desire.

Religion uses reason only so far as it can support a willful belief in an ideally static worldview, an unchanging being, knowing, and doing. It maintains a dogmatic attitude to belief. It is the triumph of will and desire over reason.

Philosophy is the means by which a person defines and qualifies existence.

Spirituality (not that you asked) is the means by which a person defines and qualifies his/her relationship with the universe.

Religion is the means by which a person defines and qualifies his/her relationship with an absolute power beyond our earthly understanding...usually in the form of a "god" or "gods."
