Need suggestions on a song to play for our contestant promenade. Think Miss USA pageant style staging. Would like a song with 70's style to it, however definitely not required.

I find that most vocal effects like chorus, pitch shifters and so on are impossible to hear if done subtly and correctly (like during a recording), and too wild if you turn it up to hear it over a crowd or large room. I am even having difficulties setting up reverb and delay when I don't know what the gig is going to be like. Are there any good answers or places to figure this out?

Any double bass players out there? Should I take it up? Is it easy to learn, and how the heck do you move it about places? They're pretty big! Will it be totally not worth the hassle?

If so...how did you learn?
Cause...I'm learning by myself and it sucks. Although, I have gotten pretty far. I wouldn't say I'm a horrible guitar player anymore.

Back in my day, a man would play sports. Not put on makeup and recite lines.

No wonder girls like you. You are one of them. It won't last though.

When I was young, some of my friends knew how to play the guitar really good and I alwawys wanted to learn. I always wanted to play the guittar, the piano and violin, but first of all the guitar. Is it possible to learn how to play guitar without having ever held one. If so, how and is there a website to go to or what.

Does anyone know a good website where I can order cds with just the song's instrumental track? Rather than using a piano or keyboard accompaniment, the vocalist wants an orchestral back-up, but he doesn't know where to order the instrumental track-- neither do I.

Performance is Friday, so we'd have to be able to get it ASAP!!

The song we're looking for happens to be a Pop song, but I'd also be interested in websites that sell tracks to all vocal styles: classical, r&b, rock, inspirational, choral, etc. A one-stop shopping site would be great.

Also, I'd really appreciate hearing from other musicians who are satisfied and "repeat" customers for the recommended website .

Thanks for your help.

I was wondering if written violin music only required the player to play one note at a time or if there are regular times when you play 2? I'm supposing you can only play 2 notes at a time max because I don't believe you can touch more than 2 strings at a time with the bow. Is this correct and how often do you play 2 strings at a time?

I started piano lessons 5 years ago, I've progressed rapidly because I've always had an interest in music, and I already knew how to read some music. But I'm nowhere near the level of advancement of some friend's kids who practice far less than I do.

Is it something innate in the immature vs. the mature brain? Is it just a lack of focus on my part? Is it the same reason why I can't pick up a foreign language?
