Back in your day a man would play sports? Not put on makeup and recite lines????
In England, before women were allowed to act on stage, men played the female roles and NO ONE called them sissies for it.
In one style of Japanese theatre, Kabuki, men play the female roles too, with all the makeup, dresses and such. Many actors specialized in female roles.
Only a man secure in his own masculinity will take on a female or a homosexual role without any worries about what others will think of it.
I have a question for you: Does the fact that you are so concerned with some actor's sexuality mean you are insecure about your own masculinity?

Is "the pink team" some sort of sports team or something? Oh, wait, you must mean "gay!"
Wow, I think you're making a serious generalization with your assumption. I'm actually very curious about exactly when "back in [your] day" actually was. Stage performance has existed for hundreds of years - in recorded history it goes back to ancient Greek civilization. I'm not familiar with any research that has studied sexuality in correlation to the acting profession. I also don't understand why wearing make-up and reciting lines has anything to do with any sort of "pink team." Announcers on ESPN wear make-up and recite lines, does that mean most of them are on a "pink team?" President Bush wears make-up and recites lines (albeit poorly) when he makes speeches - is he the captain of the "pink team?" Your assumption is just that - an assumption - and quite frankly a silly one.
I'm also very curious about the last three sentences of your question. They don't actually related to anything in your post and one of them isn't even a complete sentence. Is this question aimed at a person in particular? That kind of makes it an attack.

It takes more of a man to "put on makeup and recite lines", than to play sports that make you look like a bunch of idiotic gorillas.
Gah. It's homophobes like you that make me sick.

I'm sorry....but people are not robots, we're all different, and you can't apply this male, cut out image to all men. Not all women like playing the damsel in distress, cooking, cleaning, and raising kids. Not all men like to tackle men in the mud, throw balls around, grunt, scratch, or be "too tough" to cry. Let people be people, and not stick to the bounds of society's stereotypical, excluding roles.
And what do you mean back in the day, gays, along with straight men who wear makeup in general have been around forever. Ancient kings, play writes, actors, congressmen, you name it. You're an odd person. And when it comes to homosexuality, you really should be wise enough to know it only seems like it just came out of nowhere because..back in the day, your house would prolly be set on fire if your neighbors knew you were gay.

No, it's not right to assume that actually. A real man isn't afraid to get up on a stage and express himself- straight or not. not throw their great hulking selves at eachother to get a stupid ball. It will always last, b/c people will always have their opinions. People who resent gays really have no openess or sense of empathy at all- i mean, if you're going to take a stab at bands, say they suck, dont point out their choice of sexuality. there are so many great things to call people, to choose homosexuality is slightly pathetic. step off the gays and get a life- they are just as great as anyone else and certainy better than you.

Yes, most of us are gay. I wasn't gay until I started acting. I think it's the make-up that turned me. And all French men smoke and all Italian ladies have hairy armpits. What are youi? Stupid? Tell you what -- you stay in the locker room with a bunch of sweaty, fat, 300 pound football players and I'll stick with the theatre where I can walk into a room full of nearly-naked women and ask to borrow someone's eyeliner!

More so than the general population. And the appeal to women is the general hotness - even the straight guys wear makeup in showbiz.

Back in your day, men pulled women around by their hair and wiped their butts with their hands.
You've come a long way, baby
