Does it have to be an either/or decision? Just because you have to have another job to make the bills doesn't mean you can't play/record/produce/perform music any more, it just means you'll have to work that much harder to keep it a part of your life. Don't make music to make money (though it's great to get paid for what you do), make music because you need to express yourself through that medium. "Making it" as a musician can have many different meaning for different people, at various points in those people's lives - it doesn't always have to mean being famous, or even making a living. It just has to mean going out there and doing it.
For the record, I do like the tunes, too!

The mere fact that you asked this question here tells us that you are not ready to give up. If you need to make your music badly enough, you will find an avenue. You may agonize over trying to do it. It may not be easy. And you may need to make sacrifices. Weigh the balance. Do what your gut tells you to do. We take one short spin on this planet. Look at your family. Look at your work. Carefully consider consequences.
The best art comes from people who do the art because they must - not so that they may become rich and/or famous. Not only is the art best in other people's eyes, it is best in the artist's eyes.

Hey, I liked a bunch. You have talent, and to contemplate giving it up is really unfortunant. Keep going with it, even if you don't make it "big", what ever that means, you still have the opportunity to use you talents and express yourself! Keep it up. Don't give up.
Life is short, and if you spend it doing stuff you don't enjoy- what's the point? God gave you talent- keep going!!

It's not my sort of thing but it sounds good, isn't there any way you can incorporate this into your working life? Even on a small scale? You might end up resenting your family on some level if you let this talent go completely

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your music and I think you have a great talent.
Can you 'juggle' doing a 'proper' job and your music? I really don't think you should give up.

Try and keep it up, just play 2 or 3 nights a week at home if you can. With the kids, start up your own band.
