I wouldn't apply every day. It isn't necessary. What I would do, however, is use the cloth after every use of the guitar, to keep oils and general hand gunk from building up. Your strings will probably last a bit longer as a result of this. Guitar shops are notorious for selling polish, and any other accessory they "think" you will need. I would just focus more on making sure that you keep the instrument clean after each use, the polish would be something to use from time to time.

I'm just agreeing w. what others have said here and throwing in a cheap trick.

Yes, you can polish every day. No- you don't have to. You can spray it directly onto the guitar, or you can spray it onto a cloth first.

**Cheap Trick**

You can use Ernie Ball polish, Gibson, etc., you can also use Pledge or any other kind of dust spray and it tends to be a better bargain. You do want to use a super soft cloth- but you can buy a wash cloth at the 99 cents store that is just as effective as a $5 polish cloth.

I agree with the preceding comments, but I'd add that cleaning should be done after lengthy playing, such as what accumulates at the large bout on the top from perspiration. Any guitar polish should not build up residue, but as the other respondents have said, it isn't necessary to polish the instrument every day.

Believe it or not, the Martin Company has recommended that I use a warm, damp cloth to wipe down the instrument holding stains and perspiration from my HD-35. After such treatment, I usually add a very thin spray of good polish such as what Martin and Fender manufactures.

You can but it's not necessary, what I do is wipe it down with a very soft cloth, especially the fret board, it removes all the perspiration from the strings and makes them last longer. There is a lacquer on the wood part of your guitar that protects it, all that's needed is to remove the fingers prints for cosmetic reasons. I have an old guitar that I'm not too fussy about and because I don't wipe the strings down when I'm done playing they have a tendency to turn black.

You dont' need to apply it every day. About once a month should be fine. I use a liquid that I first apply to a soft cloth.

If you want to practice with a real shiny guitar everyday then by all means go crazy.

Rock On. or Jazz on.......or Folk or whatever you're into.

If you wanted to, sure! For acoustic guitars, it's more important to have balance in humidity than having it clean. :)
