I have a new acoustic guitar and I am completely new to music. I have been wanting to play for over 3 years but I never got around to buying a guitar. Now that I have one i'm puzzled. I was on a budget, I bought a Washburn acoustic for about $150. I heard that when you get a new guitar (especially a low-budget) you should take it to a music store and have them fix it up. Is this necessary? If so what should I tell the people or anything I should ask for? Price Range? I'm really new to this, however I'm serious about continuing this for life. Any other tips would be great! Thankyou.

I have never even held a guitar but always had a passion for a piano or a guitar. I would like to buy a guitar for my son. I don't know what to look for when shopping for a guitar. How many strings it should have and are there different types and sounds, etc.

I have left my acoustic guitar sitting around for a month or so and when I went to pick it up and play some notes on the 12th fret on the bottom string I get a sharp pitch that sounds like the guitar is broken or something, yet the fret above and below sound as they shoud, this is the same for other strings on different frets of on the neck, mostly starting at the 12th fret and beyond...

Any ideas?

i just put new tomastic Doninate strings on my cello. i have been playing on them for a couple of hours, but so far the only other strings i have used was red lable, but i noticed the new strings sound a little hollow sounding, it dosent seem to produce a full sound. My cello teacher said i have to break them in, so will playing on them help it eventualy create a fuller sound? also will it sound better in time for next friday, i have a college audition.
