Never heard of a semi electric.A semi-acoustic is an electric guitar with a thin hollow body, eg Gibson 335. Seen "Back to the Future" ? Like Marty plays when he does Johnny B Goode at the end of the dance. An electro-acoustic is an acoustic guitar with electrics built in. The most famous example is proboably the Ovation range (bowl back guitars).
Hope this helps.
