I am an unsigned songwriter with an original rock opera for the post 9/11 era in tow, songs pretty much complete, but not willing to proceed without editing, re-write, and input necessary from trained playwright to complete the libretto and recording.

Okay, I am trying to learn to play guitar, and I think I'm doing alright, but here's the thing: whenever I go and try to play more than one string at once, the sound hits but there is a twangy sound after it. I don't know if it's the way I'm using my pick or if it's the way I am holding down the strings. Please help!

Especially when playing electric w/ distortion, sometimes even trying mute the other strings with your right palm (the strumming/picking hand), you can still get a ton of vibrations and stray noises from the other strings. Do you use your left hand as well to help dampen those other strings? Or, should there not be some much sound from the other strings (i.e., something wrong with my amp set up).

I'm learning piano and memorizing notes for me is the biggest challenge. I already know the notes it just takes me a while to get them. Im already familiar with the acronyms that help you memorize them but when I play it needs to be a bit faster so it gets a bit harder. What will help me to memorize them?

I go to a LOT of theater -- musical Broadway type shows mostly. I am often ASTOUNDED by the talent -- voices as good as you can hear on Broadway or on records. Sometimes even better! The acting and dancing is just as good! I saw 'Rent' in a big city, not Broadway, and I was utterly BLOWN AWAY by the talent.

So I'm wondering, do these people all WANT to be super famous, like Julie Andrews for example, or are at least SOME of them content to just be acting in a show?

I'm just hoping that these people who give their ALL for us in the audience are basically happy in their professions!

One last thing -- is there a web site or something where I can express to these people my gratitude for the many hours of pleasure they have given me?

I want to/wish I could sing. No matter how hard I try, I just can't sing. I was wondering, with practice will people be able to hit higher notes? I can't, it only comes out as a whisper. Are people just born with the ability to sing high and low notes or does it take practice? I wish I could sing like....for lack of a better example...Jodi Benson and Celine Dion. Their voices are amazingly sweet and they have an excellent range....can I be like that too or not? I feel like I was born without a singing voice, but I'd really like to have one....also what is it with this "sing from your stomach" thing? I don't get it....I tried singing with my diaphragm but I didn't sound any different.... any advice for my extremely puzzled question?

I absolutely love everything about guitars! The look, the beautiful sound of them, and how you can pretty much express whatever you're feeling through them in such awesome music. I really want to learn how to play but I am kind of nervous because I'm afraid I won't catch on and I won't play too well, it seems so hard! Will someone please help me out and give me some advice? It would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks :)

Do the super talented people who work SO HARD on Broadway make good money when they are in a successful show? Not the stars, but the others, the background singers and such.

What about shows that travel to big cities?

I've seen so many AWESOME shows, the actors, singers and dancers just pour their minds, bodies, energy -- their entire SOULS into the performance -- I sure hope they are adequately compensated!

I'm a musician. I only started performing in front of a stage..One time recently,I was very nervous and I feel like I screwed up one of my songs..Even though my friends really thought all of my songs were great,I'm a perfectionist and to me,I was not satisfied with my performance..And I'm only trying to please myself with my songs, with my stage performances..
I don't care what others think, only I worry that I will not be pleasing myself..or that I will make mistakes infront of myself..
How do I get rid of stage fright? Because I was nervous last time, and for me I didn't like how I played one of my songs..
How do I get rid of this? Help!!

I want to start playing bass guitar, but I've been told that it's difficult for girls to play, although I don't understand why.

Could someone tell me if this is true, and then explain why?
