If you insist on playing with a left handed guitar, make sure the strings are switched around. Many left handed guitarists play in the traditional manner because having the left hand on the fingerboard can give you a real advantage. Since the hand on the fingerboard / fretboard, does the most intricate work you may want to have your left hand up there, your choice.

You can purchase a left handed guitar, or just have a luthier (a luthier is a person who makes and repairs stringed instruments like guitars, mandolins, Violins, cellos etc.) change the neck nut, bridge saddle, and strings end for end (you will have to have the neck nut and bridge saddle replaced) so the guitar is more comfortable to play. I know a person who plays left handed with an upside down right handed guitar and it can be a fairly painful experience.

I stuck a couple of links below in case you have trouble finding a guitar locally. I dont' know anything more about them other than I deal with Musicians Friend for other things and they have treated me well. All you have to do is put "left handed guitar" or left handed acoustic guitar" in any decent web browser, like "Yahoo" and you can find hundreds of similar listings. Hope this helps, and if you need anything else, feel free to contact me.

Yes it is possible. I'm left-handed & I've been playing the standard way for over 45 years. Us lefties have an advantage, cos our power & co-ordination R in the left hand where it's needed. Go to a music shop and try some out. U can buy lefty guitars, so hold an example of each & see which is more comfortable, but go for a regular guitar if u can. Be aware that playing guitar will hurt ur left hand fingers at first, but it will wear off, also that U cannot ahve long, pretty nals on ur fingering hand. Go for it - it can be done!

Playing left-handed guitar is the same as playing right handed, you just need to pick up a left handed model.
