Yes - In Dallas and in Fort Worth there are opera companies. Also, the local University ( North Texas) put on at least 1 opera a semester and 1 in the summer (they average about 3 different full operas a year and 2 shows of opera scenes.)
It's really nice to live in an area where arts are appreciated and showcased!

yes. the city I live in is Aachen, in Germany, at the corner where Germany, Belgium and Holland meet. Not only do we have an opera theater there ( and I sing there) but a 45 minute drive will get me to the opera houses in: Cologne, Liege, Maastricht, depending on which direction I drive.
When I lived and studied in L.A. we had to be content with the New York City Opera's west coast tour every year, or fly up to San Francisco, if we wanted professional opera. (Student operas abounded, that's where I got my start) Nowadays, there's the small, flourishing L.A. Opera company. Maybe one year I'll go back...

Yes in Philadelphia, and New York, they also have some opera houses in Delaware, and I just remembered they have convention hall in Atlantic City where Pavarotti appeared about three years ago, and I almost won tickets to it from the radio, they wanted to know what the name of the only movie that Pavarotti made was, and I knew it, it was called Yes, Giorgio, and no one before me had the right answer they all said Giorgio instead of Yes Giorgio, then the guy told me that you had to be the sixth caller and I was the fifth, and the sixth caller got it, so I missed the opportunity of a life time because of being one number off, oh well, it left me with a story to tell, but any way I'm so fortunate I live in a tri state area where I have access to quite a few, but missed the only one that mattered to me, I had just bought a few of his Cd's, he is one of my favorites and I missed the opportunity of a life time !!!!!

Yes, I live in Paris (France), and tomorrow night, I will be seeing Debussy's Pelleas and Melisande!

Edit: more news, I saw Pelleas last night and it was just wonderful! The conductor was fantastic (Bernard Haitink) and the singers just great, especially Laurent Naouri.
