In the 16th century, Spain had more than 1.5 trillion dollars in 1990 terms worth of gold. This does not even count the silver and other thing! They also had control of Portugal and its colonies, which means it got its spice trade. They also still had large imports of gold and silver coming in.

Ps: One Spanish ship bringing gold to spain had more money worth than what Englands queen and all its people saw in a whole year.

To make any one answerable for doing evil to others, is the rule; to make him answerable for not preventing evil is, comparatively speaking, the exception....
How does this have to do with liberty?
well yeah. but the rule is making him answer to something he has done which is an act of evil. but how is to make him answerable for not preventing evil and exception??

Given the immense cost of the war in human life, and the further negative impact of the war on the rest of the 20th century, particularly the Russian Revolution and the rise of Hitler, wouldn't everyone, even the French, have been better off if the Schlieffen plan had succeeded and the war had ended in 1914 with a German victory?
