I am already 16 and i found my passion for ballet just recently after my very first informal dance class at school. Now I am thinking about taking ballet class. Is it too late for me? By the way, I have not told my parents about this because I do not live together with them. They think that I am 'sciency' because I got scholarship to study overseas, thus they always ask me to spend more time concentrating on my study. In addition, I am a male. So, is there any ways I can convince them to let me learn ballet?

Thank you so much! All answers are greatly appreciated. Cheers!

My wife and I live in an apartment, and she wants to tap dance quietly. We already made a 4 by 4 wooden board, and put it on a rug. It's still too loud.

Thanks.

I've been in bellydancing lessons for almost four years, and I love it. However, lately there has been a lot of criticism between the different troupes (such and such doesn't have technique, such and such doesn't create any choreography from scratch, etc.). I've tried to ignore this "war of the dancers", but I wonder what does make a good bellydancer?

Do you join a troupe, win a competition, or do you have to get discovered? How do you get paid? Is that by contract?
I'm sort of okay at two hip-hop styles (b-girl,and boogaloo--I try), but I'm really good at rave styles (strings, liquid, 8-ball), but now I'm really thinking about trying aerial tissu (also known as aerial in ballet) and belly dance (specifically - turkish caberat). All I know is that I really love to dance and I think I would like to do it as a career. I just dont know how. How much does it pay? Is there ever any time off? I also want to stay with unique expressions like rave, aerial, and belly dance. Are there any jobs for that or is it all Hip-Hop?

How can I convince my mom to let me take ballet lessons? I took lessons for four years, but I stopped when my parents divorced. Ever since it's been a bit more difficult for my family money wise for both parents, and every time I ask my mom, she tells me that I might be able to take lessons, but it would be hard getting me to and from the school, and also it would be very difficult to pay. My sister might be able to drive me to and from, although I know that it's a little much. I'm unsure if I should just do extra chores for her or try to earn money, but see, there aren't many job oppurtunities for me, seeing as I'm only twelve years old. Also, every time I ask my mom, I choke up and get worried she'll say no, so it hardly comes up. Can someone help me figure out how I should ask my mom, or how I can earn ballet lessons? I need help terribly, because I feel very empty without dancing. Any help is very much appreciated.

it sounds completely stupid, but i'd love to learn to figure-skate and jump and twirl and do lifts.

okay, now that i've officially made myself sound like an idiot, here it is. i am 16 now, with little instruction that would help with ice-skating/agility (i took gymnastics for a few years) but i'd love to learn. my question: is it too late?

i'm thin and in pretty good shape, yes, but not very graceful, and not very flexible. i do just fine, but you won't see me putting my foot over my head any time soon.

still, i'd love to skate. not just around in a circle, but actually learn the art of figure-skating. anyone in the same boat? any idea where i might start off?

serious answers only, please. thank you! =)
