get some jazz shoes (about 30 - 50 dollars for good ones) and dance the same just without the sound.

dance in regular shoes or no shoes at all...Light weight tennis shoes should still make a slight noise. when I was younger my mom didn't want me to scuff the kitchen floor, we just took the wooden board outside, but now id be kind of embarrased to tap dance outside on a wooden board...but thats just me, if you want to try it go ahead! Do you have a deck on your apartment? If its big enough try practicing out there. Or just go to a friends house. A shuffle is a shuffle, and inless she wants to practice the whole dance in slow motion, you can't really tap quietly!

What did you use for the board? If you used plywood, it is going to be too loud. Try using tempered hardboard, that's what I use. It is not very expensive (between $9-$12/sheet) and is rather large so you can cut it down to the size that you want. Put it on a carpet or rug to soften the noise. If that is still too loud for you, maybe your wife could purchase soft sole dance shoes (split sole jazz shoes, oxfords, etc.) to practice in at home. They will still make a soft noise and she'll still be able to practice. Finally, check out some local dance studios or gyms - they may be able to rent space out to you for an inexpensive fee. Good luck :)

Tap on a rug. Or put socks over your tap shoes.

lol I've never lived in an apartment, but that happens in hotels. once we were in a hotel and we were laying on the bed playing scrabble (very quiet game, really) and the manager called up and told us to be quiet. exCUSE me - we WERE being quiet!! I think the lady below us that was complaining about the noise "we" were making had her ears mixed up. then later someone came up and knocked on our door telling us to be quiet - we were still just laying there playing scrabble!! what, you don't like the sounds of the tiles clinking together or something?! sheesh!! Get over it!! lol

I agree with the first answer or just find a nice close dance studio close to your apartment.
