OK, here's the deal. I COULD go to the dance and MAYBE have the VERY unlikely chance of being asked to dance OR I could go have fun with some of my other friends. When I go to the dances, no one asks me, and I go home really sad. HELP!

I took dance lessons from age 3-10 but then I quit. This year I have rejoined at the same studio at age 14. I don't really fit into a class so I took both a beginners and an intermediate class. The beginner’s class is easy, but it gives me a chance to work on technique and learn things properly. I quit the intermediate class last week but I feel like I should have stayed in it. My family and teacher thought I was doing ok in it but they made me feel as if I HAD to keep attending. I didn’t want to disappoint them. I really didn't like the class though and never looked forward to going. Things went to fast and I couldn't understand my notes to practice. Does that make me a quitter? Why do I feel so bad about quitting if I really didn’t enjoy the class?

I'd like to hear from dancers and non-dancers...what do you think lyrical dance is? I've studied dance at the college level and have only started hearing people talk seriously about "lyrical dance" since the show, "So You Think You Can Dance."

What is the difference between lyrical and modern? Can you give examples?

I'm looking for a ball room class that takes thirteen year olds, just alone. I'm interested in just about all forms of the dance, but really want to learn. I'm in Salt Lake City, and I already know how to belly dance, just looking to broaden my dancing knowledge and have fun. Any input and any ideas are greatly wanted. Thanks!

I have, essentially, two left feet and would like to learn to dance (but not Ballroom or anything like that) I am interested in ballet, jazz, tap and modern types. Is there one that is better to learn as an adult. I just saw the New York City Ballet last week and now want even more to learn to dance. Any suggestions from experienced dancers out there? Any help or comments are appreciated! Thanks!

To simplify things I like to buy everyone the same thing. Plus I had my bellydance teacher dance at my wedding reception, and I danced with her too. It's only like $15 but it's a chance to learn some bellydance! I don't really talk a lot to my cousins enough to know if they're into that stuff, but it seems like lately people are intrigued by bellydance, because of Shakira, etc. What do you think?

I was never enrolled in dance from a young age. Now I started ballet lessons last summer, but my mom's too busy to drive me to another studio. So I take ballet every time I go to California on vacation--my aunt lives there. I'm going there again for Christmas, but I'm afraid that I'll lose my flexibility because I haven't conditioned my body enough. And with schoolwork and everything, I can't fit any good stretching in. Do you have any ideas on quick conditioning that really works? Happy Holidays everyone! *<({=

You guys are right, ballet is not easy or dumb! In fact I've been doing it for 9 years, why did you think I was insulting it?

vs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?search=&mode=related&v=kokiWfJ0ikU

And this is just one example, but I see it ALL the time in the clubs, at weddings, on music videos -- basically any situation where people are dancing. It seems like black people just look better when they dance!

(I'm sure some people will be offended by this question, but it was not my purpose to offend. And I am neither black nor white.)

I've always been curious and am wondering what you all think. :)

Ok like take this dance, for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I63h49ACpqc

The guy's very coordinated and smooth, and you can tell he knows how to move his body! So how come he just looks so dorky? Is it because of poor choreography? Or because his appearance isn't that hot?

What if a really sexy, scantily clad woman was doing these exact same moves?

What if a really tough, gangsta-type guy was doing these exact same moves? He'd probably look really cool doing it!

How come? Are looks everything? Can you look cool dancing even if you don't have a "cool" tough-guy or sexy look to you?
