I think the James Rollins series would make awesome movies. What other books would make good movies?

I'm 14 and I read at an advanced level. My mom doesn't want my "brain to rot" as she says. I really like science fiction and adventure. I like books about teenagers and stuff that I can relate to which is why I don't usually read at my level. I don't like anything with vampires or mythological creators (unless you consider aliens myth. Because, I love aliens.)

Thanks so much for your help!!!!!

It's long. I'll tell you that right now. Well, it's kind of long--depending on how fast you read.

It's the new novel I'm working on and I wanted to see what some people thought. I'd really like it if someone read it and told me what they thought of it.

It's in it's rough draft form, but not like so rough it's incomprehensible. There might be minor grammer mistakes, but for the most part not that many. I'm still not done with all of the first chapter. But there are two works.

The prologue, and you'll see it and the first chapter. You can read both or just one--it doesn't matter which one. Just tell me what you think.

I'm new at this writing thing, so I have not many ideas on how it all works. I've never written prior to all of this, but this isn't my first "novel". I really want to finish this one though, so I need as much motivation as I can get.

Thanks. Ten Points to the most thorough review.

this might be a dumb question, but why didn't harry die when he was struck by the killing curse? I mean how did he have the choice to go back? I thought it might be because the part of voldy's soul was the only thing that was injured( kind of like a shield) but wasn't sure.

And how do you know if something is a BOOK, not a NOVEL?

All the places I look for formatting regular book titles say something different. Some places say none at all, some italic, some underlined.

Hi. How much would you think a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows signed by J.K. Rowling is worth? Just curious.

Mine are: "They say the worst cynics are frustrated idealst."-Tim Rackeley, "The Kill Clause" By Gregg Hurwitzz.

"My grandad said some lose their . . .what did he call. . .'moral compass' when they get older.
He said they can forget things they use to know,"-Bosky,
"John Constantine Hellblazer: Subterranean"

Those two quotes really speak to me. Especially these days. . . I really like them!

like where one of the characters reads a poem or something? i dont want it to be much longer than this one tho.

"smiling is infectious, you can catch it like the flu. when someone smiled at me today, i started smiling too. i passed around the corner & someone saw me grin. when he smiled i realized i'd passed it onto him. i thought about the smile, then realized what it's worth. a single smile, just like mine, could travel around the earth. so, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected. let's start an epidemic quick, & get the world infected."

yeah something like that.

I am thinking about sending a query letter to a literary agent, but am worried, that rather than (maybe) accepting me, they might give my story to another writer who is already under their contract.
Does is happen?
And how can I protect the right on my idea?
