In some magazines they list credits for all three and I'm wondering what the difference is.

It varies - companies do things differently.

Generally, a senior editor will be in charge of a section of the publication - eg the editor in charge of sport, or celebrities, or whatever.

The Editor has overall responsibility for the publication.

The Managing Editor does not usually have much to do with the actual content - he is in charge of managing the editorial department, dealing with contracts, licences, rights, payments, hiring/firing, that sort of thing.

There might also be a group editor or editor-in-chief who has responsibility for a group of publications from the same company.
