Assignment
"Consider carefully the following quotation and the assignment below it. Then plan and write an essay that explains your ideas as persuasively as possible. Keep in mind that the support you provide—both reasons and examples—will help make your view convincing to the reader. “There’s no success like failure.” What is your view on the idea that success can begin with failure?"

that's the assignment that i have and i'm having a lot of trouble coming up with three ideas. Again, the book is Into the Wild. By, Jon Krakauer. I really need help.

I really want to buy this book but I don't know which version to get. There is the Illustrated Edition hardcover (2005) and the Hardcover version (1990). What gets me is that the 1990 version ($31.87) is a little more expensive than the Illustrated Edition ($29.00). I would think that the Illustrated would be more. It's not a kiddy version or anything with kiddy pictures. Why might the 1990 hardcover be slightly more ???

Illustrated Edition (2005)~ http://www.amazon.ca/salems-Lot-Illustrated-Stephen-King/dp/0385516487/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/702-0842918-5429640?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187891543&sr=8-2

I obviously have an idea but was wondering if anyone could explain one of the last bits of the final book to me--- what's with the baby when Harry is talking to Dumbledore? Explain it to me in detail because I've been curious since I finished reading and that was right when it came out...thanks!

I am embarrassed that I know so little history, and would like to begin to make amends, so the world wars are probably a good place to start. Ideally the book should to be entertaining to read, not too much opinion, and balanced...there are so many books out there about the world wars, I don't know where to start...can anybody help?

Thanks

...and those around you? Or maybe get little ideas here and there? I wouldn't want everyone I know upset because I went and wrote about about what's going on with them.
Lately, I write down everything I go through and everything I witness...I find it helps when I go into writers block. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

After moving last year and having to deal with about a dozen boxes of books (about 30 years worth), I resolved to read books from the library. I find the library very accommodating with their 'suggest a book ' feature on the web site. They usually will get a book they don't already have. Sometimes, though, two weeks on a new release is not enough time to finish a big book! I've bought only six or so books since I moved. I have to admit I do like to buy books, I just don't like to store (or move) them.

I’m a writer with a fantasy novel coming out; I have been working on it for 15 years now and very proud of it. But I have a question for the public. What are you waiting for in a book?

While reading Slaughterhouse Five, I thought Billy Pilgrim's experiences revolving around his abduction to the planet Tralfamidore were hallucinations, perhaps as a result of his wartime experiences and/or head injury in the airplane crash. But if they were hallucinations, how can you explain his accurate prediction of his own death?

I did a cull of books a few months back. Charity shops only want popular fiction - which I don't have. The used book shop cherry picked the rest. I'm left with a box of rubbish, essentially. I have put the ratty paperbacks with really tiny print and thin yellowed pages into the bin, which I hated doing. But what about the rest?

I have almost finished all the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson (Angel Experiments, Schools Out and Saving The World and Other Extreme Sports) in just over 2 weeks.
I really enjoyed them.
Anyone have any ideas what I should read next?

Wasn't sure whether to put this under Books or Theatre, but never mind.

Which play is your favourite?

I love A Midsummer Nights Dream, Henry V, Hamlet and Macbeth. I really can't stand Romeo and Juliet. And I quite like The Tempest and King Lear.

Also do you have a particular favourite character?
