Having seen JKR's interview where she expands on everyones future, I would like to know why would Harry become an auror? Having been through so much, and having defeated Voldermort, I would have thought that would be the last thing he would want to do? I thought he would have been a famous seeker. Also, becoming an auror runs the risk that he will loose power over the elder wand??????

First off let me say I'm only posting this because I've decided to do nothing with the story idea. It's not my genre or even something I want to delve in to--too many land mines.

A friend approached me with an idea for a novel--hopefully I'm not the only one this happens to. The concept is you have two young married couples who are both parents of very young children (under 2). They hang out because Wife A and Wife B are cousins. Wife A and Husband B start sleeping together--sneaking around, even having sex downstairs while their spouses and children are sleeping upstairs. Wife B kicks out her husband without knowing who the "other woman" is. Wife A convinces her husband to take in her lover in the "just helping a friend guise". Not too long into that situation Husband A realizes what's going on. He finds letters between the two conspirators and confronts his wife. She denies they ever slept together, even though he has read in her own hand an admission of doing just that.

I'm a huge Salvatore fan, and I love his writing style. However, many other avid fantasy readers think that he has a problem with adding too much detail in his stories. One example I have heard many times is "why do I care to hear about which way Drizzt swings his scimitar? It's cool every now and then, but it gets old." What do you all think? Too much attention to detail?

I'm writing a novel and I am looking for names. I don't want them to be too complicated that the readers aren't going to be able to pronounce. I also want the names to mean, or relate to the characters that I have created. I want to know where I can find these kind of names. I also want to know is it ok for a writer to create their own name and meaning for the name that they created? I also would like to know what is the strategy for finding new names. Help will be aprreciated.Thank you!

Anyone know how much money an author would get if they sold an average selling fantasy/adventure book through a publisher in today's time? And instead of just selling the publisher your book for a certain price, can you take a certain percent of the sales? Thank you!

i have some elvish words that sound and almost mean the same things in another book. but it's spelled differently. i was gonna change the words later anyway but i was wondering if that would be illegal to publish the book the way it is.

... and found one or more characters did things and changed in ways that surprised you? Like they got out of your hands and became living, breathing human beings, and not just pieces of fiction?

I want something fictional.. but not too fictional. I don't like lord of the rings, it's well written, but I don't like the content of it. They're pretty much just wandering around a desolate forest looking for stuff and waring. I don't like war books either. I like Harry Potter. I like the relationships like teacher-student, teacher-teacher, and all the different personalities displayed in it. It's good stuff. Honestly, besides those, the last books I actually read were goosebumps when I was a KID. I actually read The Outsiders too, that was a really good book. I need some real books! Books entirely about solving a murder mystery are BORING to me I think. I like the spark notes of Les Miserables. I didn't actually read it though. hmmmm... ahhah. Give me a lot of reccomendations with a lot of different types. I like stuff that is either in the present or not so far past. Future stuff is crap too I think. I could be wrong, if something that I "don't like" is really good just tell me.

I'm a budding writer, I'm already doing some short stories (or one-shots as others call them) but I plan on developing a novel with those short stories as a sort of prologue.
However, when I hear about other young writers like me, one of the things that they often had to do was 'flesh out' their characters. Can anyone tell me what it means? I wanna check if I was doing it myself. Thank You :)

Between detailed and thorough description and wasting space and words with too many adjectives? Any answers or hints on when to stop the descriptions? I want to be specific, but I don't want to bore the reader or take up too much space.

Oh, and no editor is going to help. It's just free writing and school writing.
