It costs very little to publish an e-book. But, it's like publishing anything else. You need to determine if there's a market for it first. The best ones target a specific niche, the more narrow, the better.

You should write about something you really know about, as well. And, the more credibility in your field you have, the better. I've always had a theory that most people are subconsciously or consciously aware of a lack of information in their industry that needs to be filled. For example, let's say you are a special-needs teacher and you realize there is a need for a book or booklet that describes tips and tricks for designing exciting bulletin boards for special-needs kids. (That's an e-book you could market directly to teachers.)

Next, you need to layout and design the book. I've used Adobe's PageMaker, but Adobe InDesign works too. I'm sure MS Word would work, as well. When you get it finished, you should print it to your desktop (not to your printer) using pdf* printer, usually a part of your print software. You can password pdfs, which provides some security against people copying your book. But, copyright infringement is a serious concern. On the other hand, that's a concern for hard-copy books too.

I sell my e-book off my Web site http://www.Students-4-Students.com/ as a direct download to the buyer's desktop. I use PayPal to pay for the book and AOL ftp for the download. After the buyers pay, they get a response page that tells them how to get it.

Or, you can sell the book on a CD, but that requires more expense and time. On the other hand, it really depends on your subject matter. A CD could be a good idea for a good seller.

It's not enough to write the book and then make it available online. You need to market it like crazy. You may do this yourself, or you might interest a trade publisher in doing it for you. For example, if your book is for teachers, there are publishers that specialize in that area. You can find out who they are in the book "Writers Market," published by Writers Digest, http://www.writersdigest.com/

E-books are a huge subject, but I hope I have helped you a little. Good luck.

*pdf is short for portable document format. This is probably the best format for e-books, in that it can be read on just about every computer.

You can go to the library and use Literary Marketplace to look up publishers of e books. You can also search Yahoo or Google for e book publishers. The Don't is Don't expect to make a lot of money. You will make a small percentage of the money people pay when they order your e book. But once someone orders it, what is to keep them from copying it and giving it to others? Nothing really. Besides how many people use their credit cards to order e books? In my experience, not many.

You can find some good articles about e books here. Pax - C

How do you learn to write, go to school. How to write an ebook, after you learn to write then you write one. So all that is rather obvious. Now to give an ebook exposure you need to have it on a web site, your own or someone elses. Maybe through a blog. Put the ebook in a file and make it available. Regarding getting paid for it (you did not mention that) you may have a more complicated arrangement with Paypal or something like that.

Yes I think a ebook on hair color do and donts would be good..I color my hair and used to use a rinse,Natural Instincts but now my grays come back too soon so I had to switch over to a permanent hair color and now using Loreal Natural Match, which has No ammonia which is good...That is the only one I know that has no ammonia..But the first time I color my hair is too dark..and I have to wait till I shampoo at least 3 or 4 times then the color is perfect or close to it..I wish that you can get the perfect color the day you do it...
