I heard that JK Rowling said on an interview that she is considering writing another harry potter book, but that it might be a few years or so.
Is this true or just a rumor?

After Harry Potter
Rowling has stated that she plans to continue writing after the publication of the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. She declared in a December 2005 interview that she will most likely not use a new pen name as the press would quickly discover her true identity.[63]

In 2006, Rowling revealed that she had completed a few short stories and another children's book (a "political fairy story") about a monster, aimed at a younger audience than Harry Potter readers.[64]

She is not planning to write an eighth Harry Potter book, but has said she will be writing an "encyclopaedia" of the wizarding world consisting of various unpublished material and notes.[65] Any profits from such a book would be given to charity.[66] When asked on 6 July 2007 whether she would ever write an eighth Harry Potter novel Rowling confirmed that she only ever planned to write seven books in the series but also that she could not rule it out entirely. "Um, I think that Harry's story comes to quite a clear end in Book Seven but I've always said that I wouldn't say 'never'. I can't say I'll never write another book about that world just because I think what do I know, in ten years time I might want to return to it but I think it's unlikely".[67] In a recent interview, she said she "wants to fall in love with another idea...", also stating that "Harry Potter was the experience of a lifetime".

In an interview published on 26 July 2007, Rowling said that she wants to dedicate "lots" of her time to her family, but is currently "sort of writing two things", one for children and the other for adults. She did not give any details about the two projects but did state that she was excited because the two book situation reminds her of writing the Philosopher's Stone, explaining how she was then writing two books until Harry took over.[68][69]

In August 2007, it was widely reported that Rowling had been spotted working on a crime novel in Edinburgh, Scotland by the wife of crime novelist Ian Rankin..[70] Shortly after, however, Rankin dismissed this as a joke.[71]

a million. You close to threw the guide at the same time studying Order of the Phoenix in view that of Umbridge's movements False two. Some of the matters Draco mentioned approximately Harry have been real True three. Harry could be anybody you'll be able to get together with False ( I simply should not have the persistence for that. =/ ) four. Without Luna, the books would not be the identical True five. Hermione pissed off you typically True 6. You felt dangerous for Bellatrix False 7. You cheered whilst Voldemort died True eight. Ron Weasley is high-quality! True

People often speculated that she would write more books, but seeing as the book ends with a slim to no chance of there being any REAL story line to base the new books off of, I highly doubt it.

Yes Mrs. Rowling has said she would consider writing more but...."I just want to fall in love with a character again..."

We can only hope that the magician that is Rowling can pull out a few more tricks and write some more of her clever books.

She is probably going to write a Harry Potter encyclopedia. This is not a continuation of Harry's story (which cannot continue), but a source of information for super fans like me. She'll have character histories, information on characters unnecessary to the plot, and random other tidbits about the wizarding world.

Rowling is undecided about writing a guide book, or encyclopedia, for the Harry Potter series.

Not an 8th book in the series, just an Encyclopedia to explain all the things that happened to the surviving characters in the 19 years since Voldemort's defeat. She also said there were a lot of things she wanted to include in the Deathly Hallows that didn't make the final edit so all that stuff she's going to throw in. However don't expect it anytime soon, it's not a sure thing just yet.

She did say something about a Harry Potter encyclopedia. Sort of a way to tell us what happens to all the characters who managed to survive the book series. But don't hold your breath. At the moment the story is she's writing a detective novel.
