One such book is Nobody's Perfect; A Critique of Modern American Society, by R. Glukstad. What can the average reader do to rectify this situation?

I really do enjoy writing. I tend to not have enough ides to write a story though. When I actually do sit down and write, after a while the story begins to seem boring or unrealistic. How do I learn to write more realistic stories that I dont regret writing after a while? Also, what is the proper method for preparing to write a story? What do you develop first, charecters, plot, setting, supspense, conflict?
