Haha, that is an interesting question. I just read the book "Good Grief" and the main character was a baker. She was always whipping up some delicious sounding dessert. There are too many to name, but ollallieberry muffin sounds interesting. I never heard of it.
Butter beer sounds tasty. I imagine it would be a rootbeer like drink, but with a buttery taste (like those Chessmen cookies by Pepperidge Farm.)

I always wanted to know what Turkish Delight tasted like, from "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and then amazingly a friend of mine found a Narnia Cookbook and made some. She made it lemon flavored, it is a jelly confection, in someways reminding me of a jello jiggler-though somewhat stickier and so it is powdered to prevent sticking.
I was really interested in what lembas would be like (from LOTR) and though we don't have a true elvish recipe my friend did come up with some pretty dang good bread with nutmeg, cinnamon, almonds, lemon zest, oat flour and wheat flour. Scrumptious!
(My friend really was handy in the kitchen, now she's moved away--so sad.)
Now I would really like to try a pumpkin pasty.

I read a series of books by Julie Smith that were set in New Orleans. Almost everything she mentions in the way of food connected to NO sounds mouth watering.

well, I hate pickles and I don't really like beef. But one of my writing friends wrote a scene with the character eating a hamburger with pickles and it made me want to march out to In-n-Out or something and get a hamburger and cover it in pickles. Unfortunately, I lack a car, so I was stuck. The aforementioned friend is rather good with food scenes. I was about ready to cry when she had a scene with fettuccine alfredo with chicken and broccoli...I had eaten something like that before, but while I was reading, I was eating something from my university's cafe, which, to say the least, is pretty nasty. So that was depressing.
So, yeah, overall, my food choice isn't too exciting, but yeah. My friend almost made me like pickles. I read mostly fantasy, but I've yet to encounter a food item within one of those that made me react like I did to my friend's hamburgers, pickles, and fettuccine alfredo, hehe.

Bread dipped in milk, from "Jane Eyre." It sounded revolting before, and kind of does now, but at the time seemed quite appetizing.
