Not long ago, I published a book online with a supposedly reputed publisher. It was definitely a learning experience, and I resolved to try a different method for the next one. Well, I just got started, and I've been thinking: since I basically have an idea of how it actually works, should I try doing it by myself again? Or should I try to get an agent to deal with it, which will take longer? Granted, an agent might get me more money; still, they can't deliver miracles. (I'm planning on hiring a professional editor for this one, to minimize any mistakes.) However, since I've already been through the SP mill once, and know (somewhat) what to expect, is it possible that the outcome may prove to be more pleasant?

This is my poem that i wrote for a poetry comp. Could i get some feedback?

I can hear the guns firing right beside me,
Land mines go off making it harder to see.
A German soldier approached, aiming his gun,
At first I stood frozen then started to run.
Helping me get through this I think of my family,
And when I last felt my daughter hugging me.
As night falls all the lights go out,
Now I’m not sure who is lurking about.
Out jumps a soldier holding a knife,
He gave me a look of contempt and took my life.
Watching my daughter grow up is what I will miss,
I never said goodbye or gave my wife a kiss.
My time here on earth isn’t too long,
As I can hear the angels’ heavenly song.
I drew my last breath in the thin frosty air,
Then I drifted off to heaven without any care.

1Come live with me and be my love,
2And we will all the pleasures prove,
3That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
4Woods, or steepy mountain yields.

5And we will sit upon the rocks,
6Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks,
7By shallow rivers, to whose falls
8Melodious birds sing madrigals.

9And I will make thee beds of roses,
10And a thousand fragrant posies,
11A cap of flowers and a kirtle
12Embroider'd all with leaves of myrtle:

13A gown made of the finest wool,
14Which from our pretty lambs we pull;
15Fair lined slippers for the cold,
16With buckles of the purest gold:

17A belt of straw and ivy buds,
18With coral clasps and amber studs;
19And if these pleasures may thee move,
20Come live with me and be my love.

21The shepherd swains shall dance and sing
22For thy delight each May morning;
23If these delights thy mind may move,
24Then live with me and be my love.

I normally don't read much but I need something to fill in my afternoons in between classes. I'm not interested in mystery or sci fi. I'm looking for classic romance and it's has to be funny. (By classic romance I mean courtship, not like the lustfulness of Harlequinn) I don't mind diary books. I don't like dry books, it's gotta be something interesting. I can not stand Steven King or Tom Clancey and PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST HARRY POTTER...Those are lame too. Any good suggestions?

But which one should i buy? Michael's book came out first but i wonder if the other one improved on it or if it's just the same or not as good.

How old are each of the girls in each book? I only ask because I thought in the first three books they were in high school and the the fourth college. Which would mean:

1st book - 15 or 16
2nd - 16 or 17
3rd - 17 or 18
4th - 18 or 19

However someone told me they were 17 in the first book which makes no sense because then they would have to have gone off to college in the second book.

Can anyone help sort out the age confusion here?
