Out of curiousity, is there anyone out there who is also hoping that Harry Potter dies in the last book?

definitely, and with much gore. actually, i don't care how he dies, as long as he does die. i've gotten a bit fed up with him. his personality, the many complexes running around his adolescent brain, the inner whining he does...gawd, i can't believe his friends haven't killed him yet. maybe they will, but i hope voldemort gets to finish the job. he's been wanting to for so long, it would be a shame for him to be disappointed. i mean, what's the point in taking over the world--or whatever he wants to do--if he can't have the thing he really really wants?

The way I look at it... what is life for Harry after he defeats Voldemort? It seems that everything he has said or done up to this point has been to that end. At least, if he died, he could go down in a blaze of glory... if he lived, what would his life be?

Just another long, lonely road with only his two friends to keep him company, and you know that friends grow apart... It would be worse for him in many ways, even worse than when he was brought out of hiding only to find that people only remembered him because he was the boy that lived...

I mean, I don't want him to die, don't get me wrong. But if he does, and he does it with courage - and his death brings about Voldemort's downfall, then I say it's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes sacrifices just have to be made.

I hope he doesn't. I thought it was getting to be too much death lately anyway. The last two had main-ish characters dying for impact at the end. It's too predictable if she does it again.

Also, maybe in five or ten years the author might come up with a brilliant potter book idea, one that would be better than any of them, but she would have cut off the possibility if she kills him.

Personally, this could go either way for me. I've been pushing a bit for Harry to die, as this would properly end the series, but if he remained alive, JKR would need an excellent substitute ending. It would suck if she decided to go with the fans, not kill Harry, and the result being a poorly ended series, as well as an upset from some of the fans.

Complicated question. On the one (and obvious) hand, of course I don't want Harry to die; by this point I love the characters! But on the other hand, JKR has sworn up and down that she is going to (or should i now say she HAS) arranged it so that nobody will ever ever ever be able to come back after her and write sequels or continuations or prequels or anything. She herself won't be writing more in the series either she again promises. So, the only way I can see her doing this is to kill Harry unfortunately. Maybe in defeating You-Know-Who he will have to die as well.

I dunno. Hopefully not.

But no i do not WANT him to die, or the rest of the Golden Trio for that matter.

No of course not, he's the main character. But since it's the last book, I guess that doesn't matter. Still, I don't want Harry or any of the main characters to die.

No, I don't want Harry to die. I want more books in this series. I read the first one just to see what the big deal was and I was hooked. Live, Harry, Live.

not at all. i still want a happy ending. if harry dies, i wont get any closure. i know that sounds silly because they are, after all, books. but for me, ive gotten so attached to those books and the characters.

i definitely dont want him to die. or ron nor hermione for that matter.

No...I've grown to care about the characters in the novels. If Harry lives, there is always a chance for future novels

Yes, it'll be a good twist the series. I think that if he did die, everyone would be shocked. It's unpredictable, and that's what authors go for. I'd now, I am an author...
