Books are not as important as they once were but I still enjoy the feel of a book in my hands....books from the past are important because those books tell stories, true or not, that would not have been told otherwise....

We need books so that our experiences as humans can be extended to various cultures. Without books history, science and other subjects would not have been where they are today.

We need books because they can create a new world, or a history that happened long ago, or maybe just a chance to escape the real world and go into a make believe one. I may not know the real reason why we need them, but they sure make my life more enjoyable.

We don't need books. But we do need stories. Books are simply one medium of telling stories but we now have other media.
Stories are what's essential and are at the root of human experience and development.

We definitely need books as one of our great cultural heritages of mankind, in other words, our books in any language in the world have been written and printed for students, scholars, experts, businessmen and people in every walk of life to read, to search, to consult and to pursue for more knowledge, more understanding, more appreciation and more ways of doing/looking at things within the context of each readership.

We need books because we need soulfulness. The television and internet are such shallow forms of media. Writers of books take time to carefully craft their well-thought out subject matter. You can get to know things at a much deeper level of understanding.
