Could you explain the differences between a Story and Plot.

Also, could you name at least one popular novelist who write plot-driven novel/story and another popular novelist who write character-driven novel/plot (including the title of their famous novels)

Don't know what the genre is, but along the lines of movies such as "Almost Famous", "Lost in Translation".

I like Vonnegut, Fitzgerald, CS Lewis.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Lately I've been feeling indifferent to the whole writing scene. I don't feel like putting in the effort to write papers or free write on my own time. But I would like to improve and build on my ability.
Are there any ways you motivate yourself to write?

I've been keeping a journal from teaching in rough neighborhoods in Chicago the past five years. It's a look at why teachers struggle so much, but at the same time, you watch me and my students grow each year.

Some entries include: students stealing my credit card and going on a shopping spree, me getting sexually harassed by another male teacher, school shootings, kids bringing guns/drugs to school, being threatened by crazy parents...etc.

Chicago Public School are considered the worst in the USA. This could almost be a snapshot of one teacher's experience.

Please tell me what you think. There are only a handful of similiar books out there.

I'm looking for a great fantasy cycle (in rench preferably, if not then english). I've allready read the Farseer, Liveship Traders and Tawny Man from Robin Hobb, also A Song of Ice and Fire from Geroge Martin, and while waiting for the final books, i'm looking for something as good, or close enough.... BUT, i'm only looking for finished cycle

I'm just looking for a list of good memoirs or memoir recommendations. Just anything like A Million Little Pieces by James Frey or Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.

I am thinking about writing a book about a girl who falls in love with an abusive man, then gets dumped and starts cutting herself. Upbeat, I know, but I can't seem to get the idea out of my head. But I was wondering if anyone would actually read it. It would be a young adult book. Thanks!

deliciously tasted when our lips meet
i prayed and begged her to stay
instead she turned and ran away
her corpse withered into the air
but i still remember her angelic glare
