We recently acquired at auction a few hundred books from the 1800's. Many first editions. How should we sell them?

i hope someone out there knows who i am talking about because i dont...i believe he lived and wrote approx 800 years ago and his work is incredibly vivid and inspiring. From what i can remember hearing in a recent documentary on Iranian culture and women, his works are spiritually and philosophically motivated.... any clues?

Hi everyone, please help me with my poem
This poem is about ak47 and how it has been seen wrongly by the world.

It was October, year 1947 and 1,
A weapon was born and our hearts it won,
Beautifully crafted with iron and steel,
blessed by the Russians with the gift to kill,

Many has tried and all has fail,
Only in the hand of one will it prevail,
One who can tame the fiercest tigers,
With a good sight of aim,
And a man who knows no pain,
All is left is for ak47 to do wonders,

AK47 you are my beauty, You are my curse,
as i plant the bomb in the body of a corpse,
I have nothing else to say but to wrap it up,
Make a small prayer to God, and blew it up.

Still in early stages right now. I'm doing some character mapping working off a book called "the weekend novelist." It provides a step by step guide of how to grow your idea into a novel. Question is this. Some of the early exercises ask to write dreams for your characters, as well as their entire wardrobe in their closets. Also writing brief stories of their past leading up to the story. Is this necessary? Do you do this? I'm not 100% locked into the direction of the story yet and it seems like a lot of this stuff I would change as I discovered the characters/conflicts better. It seems to me that getting into outlining scenes and building off that would be more effective. Or are these exercises effective in keeping a direction so as to not give up when stuck? What are your steps to writing? On a side note have you been published and what did you write? I'll check out your book sometime. Any other information you want to throw in is also greatly appreciated.

A situation or happening that leads to the conclusion.

I believe it starts with a D or De.

I'm bored with the space odyssey that I'm reading. Does anyone know of any new or newer books that came out recently with Asian themes or settings? Not little kids' books though. Books written for adults with as least a high school reading skill level.

Lingering questions: At the end, why did Jonathan and Alex decide not to be in contact any longer?

Lista says that Safran (Jonathan's grandfather) lost two babies in the war. One of them is Zosha's. Is the other one Lista's? When she describes her pregnant older sister's treatment at the hands of the Nazis, it becomes clear she is describing her own experience. What isn't clear is who the father of the baby was.

Who was Lista's husband (p. 238)? Perhaps Herschel, which is why she is so angry with Alex's grandfather for betraying him? It would eplain much of the antagonism between Lista and Alex's grandfather.

Why is there an enormous emphasis on Safran's dead arm and hand?

I have difficulty making my characters stay quiet while I'm writing. It's like another track of dialogue that runs in my head. Is there anyone out there with the same problem, and what is the best way to stop it?

Any roleplayers who want to answer are welcome to as well. It's akin to getting stuck 'in character' after a roleplay.

It's a short story I read a long time ago, about two academics having an argument about whether logic means anything in reality. As a challenge, one guy presents the other with the remark "Nine miles is a long walk, especially in the rain" and asks him to reason from it to anything in reality. The other guy takes up the challenge and deduces that the remark is about a getaway after a robbery, and that his friend must have overheard it in the restaurant. At the end he calls the police and they nab the burglars.

Great story about the power of logic. Anyone know the title?
