We recently acquired at auction a few hundred books from the 1800's. Many first editions. How should we sell them?

I would use EBay or Amazon or some other Internet auction site. You can always set a limit to low you will accept so if you want $100 for a particular book and the highest bid is only $78 you can re auction it.

Of course this caught my eye. I love antiques but am definitely not great at prices. I would suggest to go to someone reputable, word of mouth. You may be surprised at how many people can take advantage. The problem with ebay is fair pricing. If you sell them on line, please let me know, I have acquired quite a number of antique books and am always looking to buy. Lots of luck!

Large used book dealers usually have knowledge in the value of such books. Take a few in and ask for appraisal. Don't let on you're interested in selling right off the bat. You may also check with larger libraries, who may know of local or area-wide collectors.

First of all people at used book stores will normally try to get them as cheap as they can because that means thy get a bigger profit. I would say go on ebay and sell them because the price on them can elevate much more then you ask for. I hope that helped.

Maybe talk to an antiquarian. If several hundred is too many for one to deal with, maybe you should consider splitting them up - pick out the really collectable & separate from the lessaer books.

If they're REALLY valuable, maybe you need an expert agent to represent you.

uncommon booksellers and a few public sale residences can permit you already know what your books would be properly worth if the signature became actual. those days there maximum of forgeries that with out info the signature is actual the appraisal is incomprehensible. no person is going to take your observe for it.
