because they live longer hence they need more strength... also since they need the sun, they stretch up as high as possible to ensure survival of the fittest in which any trees underneath them will not survive(due to too little sunlight)... thus only the strongest of the trees will survive and hence the population is also maintained... for as u can see it has no real predators and thus need to limit its population thru another method.... basically the higher the tree the more it can stretch its leeaves out hence gain the maximum amount of photosynthesis occurin... people on the other hand have no need for such a high growth.. hence they are shorter...

It is all depend on your species and Mixer of your genetic which decide the structure of the Body.In human body pituitary Pill Controls everything likewise in their genetic structure they will go up to have sun light to prepare the food and grow dear.

Two reasons.. human dont need Sunlight to prepare their foor but trees do... another reason is to provide shed so we can sit under it ;)
