can anyone think of a time in the book where Pi got happy over something that people normally wouldn't be happy about?

just in general with religion.. remember that time when he was bike riding ( i think) and he feels at one with nature after learning about Islam? That is something that most people would take for granted and it makes Pi happy.

he's happy to have a tiger in a life raft with him (some of the time, at least), which is pretty unusual! of course, you might really want even a tiger, when you're all alone, so, "normally", doesn't really count. it's not a normal situation.

When he finds the weird kelp island before he realizes how deadly it is at night he is happy and at home there instead of freaked out about ....well, everything.
