I'm about to finish Deception Point by Dan Brown, and am looking for something new to read. I'm a fan of all works by Dan Brown and J.K. Rowling. Would you be able to recommend any good books/authors that would suit my tastes?

I would have to rank The Lost World up really high. They cut out key elements from the book and changed character relationships. In short, it sucked.

I can't remember the author's name, but he wrote in the style of Napolean Hill and Dale Carnegie. The essay was about "The Master Game" or "Master Plan" or some such, and contained the phrase "a banner bearing the word, 'Engagement'", and mentioned something about inventing a master game if you could not find one. Anyone here ever read this, or remember who wrote it?
