I liked the Count of Monte Cristo very much, and wonder if there are any books with similar idea (revenge). The books can be of any genre and period.

Im 14, like books that have action, romance, just not boring lol. i like fantasy alot but it doesnt have to be. i am big fan of the Harry Potter books but have read them all. Fun girly books are cool but i also like books that are a little more mature sometime so just suggest what ever you like, im just dying for something good to read and i hate roaming around the libray aimlessly.

For example...

-- describe clearly (the author would put in all the basic attributes of the character, and include lots of detail: 14 year old female, 5'3", blond, grey eyes, straight teeth, short spiky hair, broken pinky toe from a killer kickball game.)

-- some detail (the author would put in most of the basic attributes and some detail: 14 yr old female, 5'3", blonde, grey eyes, short spiky hair.)

-- basic description only (14 yr old female, 5'3", blonde, grey eyes)

--vague references (may indicate eye color here, hair color there, but very few details given)

Keep in mind these are just PHYSICAL references...you'd get to "know" the character as the story progresses.

My thesis advisor and I have different opinions about this, so I'm curious to see what other people prefer. Thanks for helping!

I read a short story when I was young about a man who starts out with 'X' shots of liquor and is told that one shot is poisoned. He continues to come back to the devil and risk his life taking shots so that he can get more money. Don't want to ruin the story but if anyone knows the name of this story please tell me. Thank you very much.

I wrote four children's stories, but I don't know how to go about publishing them. I do not want to loose too much control and I do not have enough money to self publish them. I also need them illustrated.

I've always wondered if avid readers do this; and I'd love to do that, but it just doesn't seem "feasible".

I am writing a birthday card to a friend (kind of), and I need help with some ideas for the imagery I could use. He and I have been friends for about 6 months, and we both feel like God is pushing us o date one another, although we are both in circumstances where we feel we should wait before dating someone. (We're both completely single, before you start wondering) Anyhow, he and I both enjoy poetic imagery, and I was going to liken our friendship to that of a seedling planted by God. Something along the lines of not wanting to rush the tree, because it needs to grow first, and not knowing how high the tree will grow in the end, because only God can know that.

Besides being a bit sappy (no pun intended), do you think it translates? Can you think of a better image that would suit the friendship I described? I really appreciate your input.

I'm a struggling writer. Struggling to keep on task, struggling to write everyday and struggling to believe in myself. How do other writers and creative people keep going? I can't get anyone who reads my stuff to comment, except for my family and well we all know they wouldn't hurt my feelings.
