I wrote four children's stories, but I don't know how to go about publishing them. I do not want to loose too much control and I do not have enough money to self publish them. I also need them illustrated.

The only way to get the best from the publishing scene is to do it the long way...self publishing, or paying someone to make a certain number of copies means it will never sell. You must get your hands on a Writers Market book for fiction....Barnes and Noble has them. Find publishers who are willing to publish good children's books...then send your manuscripts out. It will be relatively inexpensive. Hope for the best, and have thick skin...rejection is part of the territory. Good luck.

Movie stars do not have this problem. They just go on talk shows and boom the book is a best seller.

Contact the art department of a nearby college. They will put you in touch with a hungry artist.

Call your local library and ask for the "reference librarian". This person can tell you several books that are available with easy to follow instructions. Of course, once you have a success it will be no problem to get others published.

I think the best thing to do is to do a Print by demand of the book first so you have something to show a publisher.

And by the way, I am an illustrator/artist, and can help you there.

I would suggest checking out a few writing sites, especially ones that cater to children's books and their authors.
