There are just so many different series that I don't know where to begin. Could someone give me a clue?

I think the Star Wars books that are not movies are better than the books that are movies. You have many to choose from, different timelines, etc.

If you want to go in chronological order... here's the official timeline of books. (Start at the bottom of the page)

I personally like the new jedi order series best.

So many books have been published in the last decade it seems impossible to read them all, but checkout the list below for a chronological listing of the novels.

I would avoid the movie adaptations, these books rarely offer anything comparable to the experience you get through watching the films. Instead read the novels that expand upon the Star Wars universe. Pick a book that features a character you like and have fun!

Start at the very begining. As of right now the earliest book is " Cloak of Decption" It's dated 32 years before " A New Hope". It's a great place to start. It takes place right before Padme becomes the Queen of Naboo. If you start from the begining you'll understand everything that takes place in the later books. I have read all of them( well, not the kid books) out of order then I went back and read them in order and they make much more sense in order.

4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3.

I beleive that is the order they were released. It's more suspenseful that way.
