I'm 14 and I have a lot of time over this summer. I really want to write because I love to read good books, and writing interests me too.

What can I do to make my writing better and improve?

I get so overwhelmed when I go to pick a new book to read. I really have no patience. I end up reading books that I know I love and are already familiar. I really want some new stuff this summer. John Steinbeck is my favorite author.

I know a ten year old writing a murder mystery. He wants to get it publsihed. Is it alright for the book to be published? Or will the public go insane and take the kid away from his parents?

I know that the series came out somewhere between 85 and 95. They may be in some role playing genre I don't know. I have no idea as to the author. I know that there are wizards who take power from the earth around them as well as wizards that take it from the blood of others other than that I have no other clues.

In my own opinion Harry Potter used to be good but now the plot line just repeat over and over again- darkarts teacher, etc. However there are a few changes in some of the books- but still is quite boring

I am looking for a book I read in my childhood--details are fuzzy. Help will be greatly appreciated!!
This is what I remember:
- collection of fairy stories
- published pre-1994 (could actually be old, maybe out of print)
- one of the stories involves a fairy's attendants being turned into stones by goblins and goblins trying to break into a castle during a ball
- same story has a ring (w/ butter in it?) someone wears to tell if someone is a goblin impersonating a fairy at the ball

I know it's a long shot, but I'm desperate to find it!

bocca wocca watamus
And salamander stew,
Riffle-raffle-ragamuffins,
Rutabagus too,
Diffy-daffy dandelions,
And then for the dessert:
A dish of loony lingaberries
Smothered in fresh dirt.

You wouldn't be any character particularly mentioned. You'd just be an extra.

I'd be one of the Rohirrim in the Lord of the Rings books (the movies suck).

what can a person do to make a book more interesting? And if I'm writing a novel that is fiction would it be okay with publishers if some of the stuff I write about happened in real life eventhough the characters are made up?
