If things were much different going from book to book, it would make them unbelievable in the fantasy world, but I do recognize that there are minimal changes going from book to book. Why can't a big event happen in the middle of the book. After all, she has seven of them to work with, lol... I look forward to see if there is a huge twist in the seventh book and I hope she'll make it a lot different, but not unrecognizable to true Harry Potter fans like me. I think J.K. Rowling can have some similarities in her books because she knows people will still buy them. Once I start reading a really interesting chapter, it's like I can't stop for hours on end reading the book. I'll do it for an entire day if I don't have anything planned.
I hope you read the sixth book, if not, this will spoil some stuff for you. In the sixth book, Dumbledore dies and Harry starts finding Horcruxes and he pledges to not come back to Hogwarts so I want to know what the other wizarding schools will play a part in the sevent Harry Potter book if they do play one, how Professor McGonnagal will handle Hogwarts. I have a feeling Harry will stumble across Hogwarts somehow. The seventh book in my opinion will be much different than the others. It would be awesome if she couldn't bind it all into one book and had to make it two separatate ones -- not likely, but would be sweet. I just want to know how J.K. Rowling portrays this and the way the characters react to these future situations.
Overall - Great series of books -- I do wish however Rowling would explain how certain unexplainable things happen in Hogwarts to make the books a lot more interesting like how the staircases move on their own -- it's magic, but what kind of magic? Seriously though - lol...

The books have the same info and new info b-cuz J.K. Rowling is trying to get the point across that something is wrong with the position of defense against the dark arts teacher. None of the people that take the job last more than a year. Then there's the new info which she adds for more suspense. If she took out all or most of the old info there wouldn't really be a plot line. There would just be a series of event that don't fit together. The defense against the dark arts job is there to introduce characters that Harry needs to know. People that will help him through the rough times he is facing as the story moves along. The point that Rowling is trying to make is that someone will also be there to try and help or save Harry and his friends from danger. In my opinion the books are good and bad at the same time. There are some things that she could have done better and then there is the things she did great that made her books the best sellers that they are.

Good. J.K. writes very well, and is highly amusing, and incorporates many plot lines into her books. In her latest interview that i saw she was commenting on how hard it was for her write now because she's got so many ends to tie up. Plot points such as the DADA teacher are miniscule, and she doesn't repeat that much; I don't really see where you're getting that. The books are still children's books or young adult at least, so you have to keep that in mind. It's not Moby Dick, but from your question it seems you're not picking up on everything that's going on. The books continue to get better and better, and the plot lines expand even more later in the series. In short, they're very GOOD. And if you notice, the plot and points of view grow with Harry's age, take that into account.

Why is it boring? I don't know - why do you think they're boring? Because there's continuity in Harry's life? And because that's how everyday life is - lots of things repeat themselves, relationships stay the same, generally you see the same things coming up in school or work or wherever... I like the books because they do 2 things: They talk to kids in their language about things that are important to them - like family relationships, bullying, how to manage conflicts with best friends, what first love is like, how to deal with school politics and nasty teachers. The books also have a fantasy element that takes kids away from the mundane and lets them dream about what life would be like if they had that kind of power. Each book has a lot of the day-to-day sameness, but also a TWIST. It's those twists that are totally and completely addicting.
Just IMHO.

Best books ever! They draw you into the story, and make you want more. And the plot is not always the same. In the 3rd book You-Know-Who is never mentioned. The 6th book is also written much differently that the others, and has many plot twists. Althought they might be a bit similar, they're fun, and pull you into a completely different world. I personally think these books are wonderful.

I still find them rather interesting and her writing is better than it was in the first book. In every author, you find many repetitive elements, over and over. However, if adored from the beginning, the book in a different format is still very likeable. For me, I find the books are changing and besides, I always want to know what happens next :).

I love them... They are well written, and leave you wanting more... The characters are likable, and easy to relate to. People of all ages are obsessed and there aren't many books that parents fight with their kids about who it belongs to.
