Depends how it's written........If the kid is writing something along the lines of a Dean Koontz novel I think the parents would be questioned. But if it's something like a Murder She Wrote, relatively mild, they should be O.K.
I would ask the kid to read a chapter or two......just to see how warped his/her little mind is.....

I don't think age should restrict talent. I like a good murder mystery but I do not like all the blood & guts so many of them have anymore. It must be some book if afraid public will go insane. You are aware of how costly this can be so hope you will get a good publisher that will tell you the truth and not just out to make money from you. Good luck on your venture!!!!

If the child can write, and get the book published, go for it. Soicety may frown apon a 10 year old auther. But they can't take the child away without due cause. They would need to prove the parents incapibel of fostering the child. If they are worried, concider using a pen name or having the parents publish the book for him.

what's wrong with a kid writing that? If he's good, and people want to read it, and if he wants to write it of course, there's no point in keeping him back. If anything, he'll just publish it when he's eighteen and out of his parents' house.
The public cannot take the kid away from his parents. They can also use a fake name and things like that on his book so nothing like that happens.

I extremely do not believe that's possible to get printed. yet a 10 year old can easily write! the element is on the age of ten the mind has not stepped forward to have the ability to work out previous the obtrusive good and undesirable, black and white factors of a narrative. This probably doesn't count if the the tale is for different ten year olds. a 10 year old also will be lacking interior the spelling and grammatical skills that are had to be an quite good author. save writing and coming up your skills, do exactly not write with the expectancy of having printed at one of those snug age. It takes adults years to acceptable their memories and abilities to the extent of publishing. that is an quite problematic market to crack. in case you want to get printed, i do not propose posting aspects of your artwork on the following.

Sounds like a good thing if you can be published at age 10, and with today's society it is no surprise that they are writing murder mysteries. Best of luck

Maybe have an older person take credit for the book with legal stuff but the kid's family get the money or the kid if he is more responsible.
Some children are much more mature than adults and are if not more brilliant at certain things...like writing!

If the books is good enough he should be able to get it published. If the public goes insane and he is taken away from his parents then he can write another book about that too! Tell your "friend" good luck.

I think it depends on the quality of writing. If this is written like a bad video game then it may turn into a media fiasco. If it is written with true intrigue and the basic elements of good writing (a plot, developed characters and descriptive environments) then it is a marketable work of literature and not just a messed up kid trying to shock the adults around him.

It's all right for a ten year old to do that unless he has gone mental from writing a murder mystery.
