Reading kicks a** but these days not enough people do it why?

Because people have more things to distract them with: tv, computer, which includes the Internet and even Yahoo! Answers, emailing, MySpace, magazine, which is candy reading really, won't fill you up, radio, cell phones, text messaging, video games complete with Nintendo DS, XBox, Gamecube, yada, yada, yada. I totally agree with you, reading does kick ***! But it's so hard to read now. If we can smash all our tvs, computers, game systems, and rip our magazines, and leave the radio because the radio is fine except for commercials and sit down and read, it won't be a bad thing. All of the smashed things rot our heads anyway.

Human beings, like all animals, naturally take the path of least resistance. Why waste all that mental energy on reading when you can watch television or play video games instead? I think some people also think they don't have enough time to read; if you have even five minutes of free time you can read. In short, we're all to some extent naturally lazy, and it takes a concentrated effort to get over that laziness.

Because, as kc_brig some are just lazy, but I think the other reason is that when a good book is written, everybody jumps on the band-wagon to make it into a movie. Then all the lazy people can just say "I'm waiting until the movie comes out."

Read to your kids and they will love it. Get the TV guide each week and pick out shows you like, then keep the TV off when those shows aren't on. Visit your library.

that is because these days technology has improved, so instead of curling up with a good book, people prefer to watch tv and play with their game systems and stuff. technology has intriged the minds of young people entertaining them and such therefore putting the books aside as it is replaced by the advances of technology

Some are just lazy... It doesn't help that when a good one does come out - everyone & their mothers jumb on the bandwagon to try to get them banned (Harry Potter, The DiVinci Code)....
