I'm going on a 9 hour car ride and I need a good book to read. I like suspenseful and/or funny books. If any of you have good ideas, I'll definately look into it. When you post what book you think I should read, it'd be nice if you put a summary there as well to help. Thanks!

Did anyone read these books as a kid - about two clans of creatures that lived on a rubbish dump?
(The stories were written by S.A.Wakefield.)
If anyone knows anywhere that still has them in print, or whether the stories have been put on the internet I'd love to know about it!

about 10 years ago i was recommended a book and do not know the title or author. It was about a girl in the Australian Outback who met up and travelled with a tribe of Aboriginis. One part of the book talks about a dust storm (or a swarm of flies - cant remember) and they taught her how to deal with it by standing still with her head bowed till it passed. As i was on an educational trip through Africa and we were all from different parts I didnt know the girl who recommended it to me well and obviously now have no way of contacting her. Has anybody heard of this book?

I've am reading Shantaram and I think it is a brilliant novel. But it purports to be a true story. Surely not ? All a bit far fetched, no ? I live in India and I have never heard, nor has anyone I know..of over underpants. Why does the author not thank a single person who appears in the book in the acknowledgements? On his website the author says the character of Qasim Ali Hussein would as a youger man have looked like SRK ( of course...who else ! )

Am I just being a spoil sport ?
