Do people have the book encased similar to the first dollar bill made in a business? Do they make a plaque with the book?

Hi there. I'm a published fantasy author. My first hard cover book came out in April and it's already a hit with the critics and a slew of Amazon customers. The title is THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY. It's a medieval fantasy epic with lots of mysticism, magic and mayhem, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

This book took about 3 years to write and another 2 years to get published. It has been reviewed very highly in the mainstream media and is being considered for a movie production. So, what did I do with my author copies? I sent them all to reviewers, except for a couple that I put on the shelf. That's how things work in the book biz now--reviews make you or break you, so the more people who read it, the better.

As for framing the first dollar, I've already put that into advertising, along with a whole bunch of others. That is also how things work with new authors and new books. If you'd like to read a free four chapter eBook demo of Blackgloom, email me at FiveStarAuthor@aol.com.

Thanks for the question!

I told everyone I knew about it. Contact the local paper and let them know as well, I got booked for an interview right away. I wrote a Press Release and submitted to PRWeb. Ordered copies to be sent out for reviews. Have bookmarks and business cards made to hand out to people. Always have books with me to sell. Network with other authors to learn marketing techniques in book promotion. Continue to find ways to promote via websites, forums, email, contests, give aways, fundraising, etc.

Self-published doesn't mean less quality necessarily, many bestsellers were originally self-published to begin with. The main thing is to revise, edit and market it well. When an author has something to say and can't wait, self-publishing is the best option. Dan Poynter have made a fortune by self-publishing his books and sharing all the information he had gathered over the years with other authors.

Well....since this is the age of computers, most likely they have it saved on a zip drive or at the least a cd and put away. LOL Okay, you mean the copy the publisher sends to them, right? Well, the authors I know usually get their copy and seal it in that non-acetate sleave stuff....the same kind of stuff the comic books collectors use. Then they put it away on a shelf or in a drawer. I mean, it's bulky, you can't really frame it, can you? If I ever get published, though, I'm going to BRONZE my first book! Yup, Just like a proud mamma of an ugly baby! And mount that bronzed nightmare on a stand and set it on my fireplace mantel! I'll invite you over to look at it, too!

Have a Book Signing, populate the papers with your book and a couple of reviews, i.e. make yourself known!
Encase your first dollar bill if you like, and as well..do NOT mind the critics unless they are good critiques and then I would frame them too!

It all depends on just WHAT you mean by "Published". If you were PAID to write it, then you have bragging rights and you can go on signing tours to tout your work. If you are SELF PUBLISHED, then your book of esoteric poems will probably do very well as a door stop or a step stool or to hand out as Christmas and Birthday presents to your long suffering friends and family.

They brag about ti , give it to friends and family for Christmas, and if the book really sucks, they use it to make the table leg even, that´s was bothering them when they were trying to type the script in the first place.

I stuck it under the table. One of the legs was short, and it stopped it from rocking.
