I need a story/novel idea that people don't mind me using.

I think we need more novels on the consequences of belonging to gangs. The problem is the research might be dangerous. If you are looking to write a teen novel, though, the research might not be quite as dangerous if you just talk to people your own age.

Go to a busy intersection and write down everything you observe and what you think people are doing/headed/etc. That should give you ideas.
