Books & Authors - June 2006

Hi there! I've been conteplating this for a long time... I was thinking of writing my own Harry Potter Book Seven. What do you think? It'd be kind of a fanficion thing, but rather than going off on my own plot, I plan to be correct with the books - Horcruxes, the Prophecy, everything.
It will be very difficult, seeing as it's already hard for me to plan out how the plot will go Horcrux-wise and stuff (I've written over ten pages of notes and research already), but I'd like to try it.
What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Would you be interested in reading it or something if I finished?

I think Thomas Wolfe was one of the greatest American writers to ever live, and a positive genius. Does anyone else think he is terribly underappreciated? "Look Homeward, Angel" is probably my favorite novel of all time.

First and foremost; please read the question and understand that I said I am NOT with a major publishing house. I am asking for advice, and assistance--not cynicism and rudeness--so if you don't actually have good advice, please just pass on by. If anyone can help me, I would like to know what I can do to push my product and get my name out there. I've got a few book signings schedueled, and sorry if it sounds greedy but I want more, and better. I know a lot of you are much better known authors, and I would be honored for some advice, if any. All I remember is that it was quite a dark story for children. I read it around 1995/1996. It had something to do with a small girl and a circus, plus a clown that used to stop time or something. Please help - it's really annoying me!!

by Ralph Ellison. What would be a good comparison and contrast? What is the author trying to tell about himself?

I want to write a book called "Tales, Trials, and Secrets of My Large Family." about a girl traveling to NYC to see her large family. Her aunt is married, has a new baby, but the girl discovers the aunt cheating for the girl's great-aunt's gardener. Then ANOTHER aunt is about to get married and the character is asked to be in the wedding. But a boy she met on the plane to NY is also there, and she has issues with him and the wedding song. Her younger cousins are hanging off her as she tries to wander the city alone for ONCE and get away, and one is challenged and she is put in charge of looking after him. Then her great grandma turns 91 and a huge party is thrown. She discovers something frightful about her great-grandma's past (the fact that when her great-grandpa died her great-grandma was involved in a scandel with his fortune.) After making amends with her great-grandma for her mistakes, the girl's 3 cousin has a huge anger fit and is put in counseling. Then the boy on the plane...

I really enjoyed A song of Ice and Fire and I have read the Shannara series, any other good fantasy series worth reading. Even good sci fi would do.
